Remember Mannequin, the 1987 movie starring Sex and the City’s Kim Cattrall as a sexy mannequin who comes to life?
Who hasn’t had a fantasy of that happening at least once, brushing by a mannequin in a store, or passing by a dress shop display window? Perhaps, if there was no one around, you gave her a little wink, leaned to whisper some sweet nothing in her ear…
The Pygmalion myth of the artist breathing life into his sculpture has been inspiring artists since Ovid wrote it down. That’s the year AD 8, in case you don’t have your copy handy. So, for quite some time now. Not all the re-imaginings are about a sexy mannequin, of course. Think Frankenstein, Pinnochio, My Fair Lady.
